Cult leader loses child sex conviction appeal

advertisement

William Kamm's conviction for sex offences with an underage girl stands.

The crimes occurred in the early 1990s and the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal today dismissed Kamm's appeal against his conviction and his sentence, which he sought to argue was excessive.

Justice David Hodgson said Kamm told his followers of a "prophecy that there would be a new holy era when he would have 12 queens and 72 princesses who would assist in bringing forth his children, who would be called an immaculate race".

The religious leader also wrote a letter to the girl to say she was to be one of his wives, said Justice Hodgson, sitting with justices Michael Grove and Carolyn Simpson.

He is still awaiting sentencing with respect to indecent acts with a different underage girl.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Just a shame that Dyers prick [Ken Dyers of Kenja was also up on kiddie fiddling charges] topped himself before his victims had a chance to defend themselves in court. They've now lost the chance of seeing justice and have to put up with his moronic wife slandering them at every opportunity.

So, good news indeed to see Kamm going down. Keep me posted about your brush with a cult leader.
